Meet Our Team

Dr. Kristean Thorpe

Dr. Kristean Thorpe completed her undergraduate studies at Daytona Beach Community College in Daytona, Florida, and Stetson University in Deland, Florida. She earned her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Florida, Gainesville, which is also where she completed her residency.

Dr. Thorpe is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Medical Association, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.

Her professional interests include adolescent gynecology, surgical management of stress urinary incontinence, laparoscopic surgery, general gynecological care and management of pregnancy. Her personal interests include spending time with her husband and two daughters, golfing, skiing, snowboarding, biking, hiking and many other outdoor activities, as well as reading and relaxing.

 

Dr. Joseph Szekely

Dr. Joseph Szekely graduated from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire and then went on to Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. At Tulane, he attended both the School of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree, and the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, where he earned his Master of Public Health. Dr. Szekely completed his residency at Columbia University in New York City.

He is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a member of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecologists. His professional interests include laparoscopy, urinary incontinence, abnormal uterine bleeding, obstetrics and infertility. In his free time he enjoys skiing, mountain biking and hiking.

 

Dr. Johanna Byrd

Dr. Johanna Byrd graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine with her specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology, where she also completed her residency. She is a Junior Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a member of the American Medical Association and serves on the Committee of Interns and Residents at University of New Mexico Hospital.

Dr. Byrd’s professional interests include ectopic pregnancy, seatbelt use and positioning during pregnancy, urinary and fecal incontinence, intrapartum management and intro-operative blood products. She is fluent in Spanish. Her personal interests include gardening, skiing, hiking, cycling, tennis, cooking and photography.
