Visitation Guidelines

Patients admitted to the Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) are there for any number of personal reasons, and we are entrusted to their care which includes protecting their confidentiality. Patients who are allowed visitors in the BHU are given a code to distribute to family and friends for admittance to the unit. No one is allowed to visit the BHU without a code.

The instructions listed below are not intended to prohibit your visit in any way or be an inconvenience. However, they are intended to protect our patients’ right to confidentiality and ensure that those family and friends visiting are indeed welcomed by the patient.

Visitors without a code: Visitors who have not been given a code by a patient may call up to the BHU and leave their name and phone number. The BHU will not confirm or deny that the patient is there, but-if the patient is in the unit-they will pass the message on to the patient, and he or she can call the visitor and give their code so that they can visit.

Visitors with a code: Visitors who have been given a code by a patient may proceed to the BHU. Please feel free to ask one of our ambassadors to escort you.

Once on the unit, please pick up the “red” phone that is beside the locked door. A member of the nursing staff will answer and ask for your code. Once your code has been verified, you may be allowed to visit at that time or asked to come back if it is not a good time to visit.

Visitation hours are: Monday through Friday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Only two visitors can visit the patient at the same time.
