Meet Our Team

Rachel Chaney, MD

Dr. Chaney received her undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. She then went on to pursue her medical degree from UNM’s School of Medicine. Dr. Chaney completed her residency in internal medicine at UNM, as well as fellowships in cardiology and research echocardiography in the University’s Department of Cardiology.

Dr. Chaney has more than 25 years of experience as a cardiologist. She has a special interest in non-invasive cardiology, congenital heart disease and cardiac arrythmias. Dr. Chaney was born in Los Alamos and grew up in Albuquerque. She has been part of the Four Corners community for a considerable time, visiting the area every summer before moving to Durango permanently in 2013. She has been serving patients in the Four Corners since then in conjunction with San Juan Regional Heart Center. When she’s not working, she enjoys running, cycling, hiking, golf, and wildflower gardening. 

 

Jay Ciotti, MD

Dr. Ciotti is a Board Certified Family Medicine physician and experienced Medical Director with nearly 30 years’ experience caring for patients, most recently as physician and owner of Cottonwood Holistic Family Health, voted “Best Physicians in Durango” by the Durango Herald for 12 years in a row.

Dr. Ciotti attended the University of Notre Dame for his undergraduate studies, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in History. He earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed his Family Medicine Residency at St. Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo, Colorado.

Dr. Ciotti focuses on preventive health and complementary medicine in his practice and strives to ensure that his patients are heard and understood.

 

Suzanne Ciotti, MD

Dr. Ciotti is a Board Certified Family Medicine physician with nearly 30 years’ experience caring for patients, most recently as physician and owner of Cottonwood Holistic Family Health, voted “Best Physicians in Durango” by the Durango Herald for 12 years in a row.

Dr. Ciotti holds a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Kansas. She earned her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed her Family Medicine Residency at St. Mary Corwin in Pueblo, Colorado.

Dr. Ciotti’s medical practice emphasizes preventative care, functional medicine and counseling patients in diet and lifestyle changes to best help them maintain or achieve longevity and quality of life. She authored a handbook for patients called Breezing Through Menopause, which includes discussion and research of menopausal symptoms and considerations. She also hosts a weekly podcast, The Perimenopodcast, bringing her expertise straight to her listeners. Dr. Ciotti has practiced acupuncture since 2006 and is a compounded hormone practitioner with an emphasis on women’s health.

Andrew Clarkinson, DO

Dr. Clarkinson is Board Certified in Family Medicine. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Community Health and Biology from Carroll College in Helena, Montana. He attended Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima, Washington, where he earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Clarkinson completed an internship in Emergency Medicine at Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City, followed by a residency in Family Medicine at Spokane Teaching Health Center. He most recently served patients in the Four Corners as a physician at Cottonwood Holistic Family Health.

As a family medicine physician, Dr. Clarkinson enjoys getting to know his patients as people. His expertise includes preventive care, dermatology, cardiology, musculoskeletal and sports medicine.

 

Jonathan "Jonti" Fox, PA-C

Jonathan “Jonti” Fox is originally from the United Kingdom and holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Exeter. He moved to the United States at the age of 25 and earned his Master of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Iowa. He has been practicing medicine since 1996 and, for the last 26 years, has been providing primary care services in the Durango community. He joined Cottonwood Holistic Family Health in 2006 and has enjoyed delivering the full breadth of family practice medical care to people of all ages with a variety of health issues.  Jonti greatly values the trust patients have placed in him, and the relationships he has forged, over the past 18 years.  He looks forward to continuing to provide this kind of high quality, compassionate, medical care at the new clinic.

When not working, he can usually be found spending time in the wilderness. He enjoys trail running, rafting, backcountry skiing, backpacking and most other outdoor activities and consequently has a keen interest in wilderness medicine. He also plays the upright bass and sings in a local Bluegrass/folk band. Other interests include photography and reading good fiction. 

 

Cara Caldwell, APRN, FNP-C

Ms. Caldwell has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center School of Nursing in Lubbock and earned her Master of Science in Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Houston College of Nursing. She has been serving the Four Corners area as a Family Nurse Practitioner since 2020, most recently at Cottonwood Holistic Family Health in Durango. 

As a primary care provider, Ms. Caldwell enjoys building strong rapport and trusting relationships with all of her patients. She understands all patients are unique and strives to provide the best individualized care plan for each health concern. Her special interests include rural healthcare, serving under-served communities, and wilderness medicine. She is also passionate about global healthcare and has traveled to the Amazon Rainforest in Peru to provide medical care. Outside of work, Ms. Caldwell loves spending time with her husband and exploring the outdoors year-round. She can typically be found hiking, trail running, mountain biking, or skiing in her free time.
