Honored for Heart Attack Care

San Juan Regional Medical Center is proud to announce we have received the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline® EMS Gold achievement award for our commitment to offering rapid, research-based care to patients experiencing a STEMI (ST elevation myocardial infarction), the most severe form of heart attack, and stroke.

To prevent death in these critical cases, it’s imperative to restore blood flow as quickly as possible. The Mission: Lifeline® program helps reduce barriers to prompt treatment every step of the way, starting from when 911 is called, to EMS transport, continuing through hospital treatment and discharge.

Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation

The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has recognized San Juan Regional Medical Center and its world class providers and care teams once again for demonstrated expertise and commitment in treating patients with chest pain. San Juan Regional Medical Center was awarded Chest Pain Center Accreditation with Primary PCI through 2025, the only Four Corners area hospital to achieve this designation.

Hospitals that have earned ACC Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation have proven exceptional competency in treating patients with heart attack symptoms and have primary PCI available 24/7 every day of the year. This ensures that patients experiencing an acute heart attack receive rapid treatment in the cardiac cath lab to minimize damage to the heart

2022 Mission: Lifeline® Gold Plus EMS Award

San Juan Regional Medical Center has received the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline® EMS Gold Plus Achievement Award for improving outcomes for patients who suffer severe heart attacks. The Gold Plus Award is the highest recognition awarded by the American Heart Association.

Optimal care for heart attack patients is a coordinated effort and EMTs and paramedics play a vital role in the system. They can save precious minutes of treatment time by activating the emergency response system that alerts San Juan Regional Medical Center to an incoming heart attack patient. This is the fourth year in a row that San Juan Regional Medical Center’s EMS has received the Gold Plus Award, following three years of Gold recognition.

Mammography Accreditation

San Juan Regional Medical Center has been awarded a three-year accreditation in mammography by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety.

To achieve the ACR Gold Standard of Accreditation, San Juan Regional Medical Center and its Outpatient Diagnostic Center went through a vigorous review process to ensure that each facility meets nationally-accepted standards of care. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed. Every aspect of the accreditation process is overseen by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field of advanced diagnostic imaging.

Laboratory Accreditation

San Juan Regional Medical Center’s main laboratory has received full accreditation by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), our trusted partner in laboratory accreditation.
