Aims

To provide a multitude of experiences teaching the core competencies yielding skilled internal medicine physicians proficient in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.

To provide opportunity for robust procedural training through first simulation then supervised repetition of the core internal medicine procedures as well as advanced procedures personalized to interest and career path.

To generate a love for primary care through an innovative curriculum with the following:
- Development of an understanding and appreciation of the people and cultures inhabiting our region
- Attainment of a sense of confidence and competence in primary care through multiple specialty rotations
- Exploration of the services and systems outside the clinic
- Completion of a continuity clinic panel analysis to appreciate the impacts of the Social Determinates of Health
- Development of a sense of deep purpose as a primary care physician through daily exercises highlighting a purpose-driven framework

To teach a foundational process for effective quality improvement initiatives, proficiency in performance of evidence-based research as well as effective analysis and interpretation of the evidence.

To maintain resident health, wellness, and life balance while simultaneously generating a sense of interconnectedness with each other, faculty, patients and the environment around them through a rigorous wellness curriculum.
