Resident Salaries and Benefits

Resident Salaries
1st Year: $65,100
2nd Year: $67,582
3rd Year: $70,304

Meals
$1,500 meal stipend offered yearly. 

Uniforms 
Monogrammed white coats, scrubs, and North Face coats will be provided by the hospital. 

Paid Time off
Residents receive the following paid time off annually:
• Vacation: 4 Weeks
• Sick Leave: 8 days
• Bereavement: 3 days
• ACGME medical, parental, and caregiver leave: 6 weeks
• Professional development: 5 days
• Dedicated fellowship/job interview days
• Dedicated USMLE Step 3/COMLEX 3 prep days

Starting Bonus
The hospital will provide each new resident $1,250 as a bonus that will appear on the first paycheck of residency.

Holidays
The hospital recognizes six (6) holidays annually. These include New Year’s Day; Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Residents who work a holiday may choose another day to take off with approval. Reciprocal coverage will be made by other residents.

Conference allowance: $1,000/year
Professional Education Allowance: $250–750/year
USMLE Step 3/COMLEX 3: Exam Reimbursement

Technology
Residents will have access to designated computers, a program laptop and/or I-pad as needed for the duration of residency. 

Resident teams will be provided a Butterfly Point of Care Ultrasound for point of care ultrasound. 

Residents will be provided unlimited access to a state-of-the art simulation lab.

Health, Wellness, and Fitness
Coaching: Residents will be provided individual coaching on a quarterly and an as needed basis to assist in setting and maintaining a purpose driven framework and discussing feedback nurturing a workplace environment of wellness.

Counseling: Residents will be offered an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to support employees with personal and work-related issues. The EAP provides confidential counseling sessions, a 24/7 support line, and other mental wellness resources as offered through San Juan County.  Residents will have access to confidential mental health support with a licensed mental health counselor through Jasper and Associates and Health Advocate/UNUM.

Gym Access: Discounted gym memberships are available with the following businesses: Anytime Fitness, Defined Fitness, San Juan College Health and Human Performance Center, City of Bloomfield Recreation and 24/7 Fitness Center

Farmington Events Calendar: Farmington Civic Center has a range of free or low-cost concerts, shows and events that happen each month including the San Juan Symphony. 

Residents will be eligible for 2 free lift tickets annually to Purgatory Resort in Durango, Colorado.

Medical Insurance
A choice of one of two medical plans for residents and their families are offered at a small cost through payroll deductions.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA) & Dependent Care
Flexible Spending Accounts are available to help cover out-of-pocket expenses for dependent care and/or medical care, using pre-tax payroll deductions.

Health Savings Account (HSA)
Residents are offered an option of a Health Savings Account for out-of-pocket expenses, funded through pre-tax payroll deductions.

Dental Insurance
Dental insurance is offered to residents and their families at a small cost through payroll deductions. Preventative care is covered at 100%. Orthodontic benefits are available. Can be used in conjunction with FSA or HSA.
 
Vision
Vision insurance is offered to residents and their families at a small cost through payroll deductions. Vision coverage includes low co-pays and benefits for frames, prescription lenses, and contacts.

AFLAC
Plans are available for accidental coverage, hospital indemnity, and critical illness—for both the employee and their family at a small cost through payroll deductions. 

Basic Life and AD&D
Full-time and half-time employees are covered at 1x their base annual salary at a small cost through payroll deductions.

Optional Life
Optional life insurance is available for the employee, their spouse, and children. New employees may elect up to $200,000 without providing evidence of insurability.  Plans are offered through payroll deductions. 

Professional Liability Insurance
The hospital’s general liability insurance policy provides coverage for each resident while they are acting within the scope of their duties. 

403(b) Retirement Plan
The resident is eligible to contribute on a before-tax basis to a 403(b) account from his/her pay with matching by San Juan Regional Medical Center.
