This course covers all the basics of breastfeeding. It is intended for the first-time mom or as a refresher for a mom who has already experienced breastfeeding. The course will the benefits of breastfeeding for mom and baby as well as the essentials of starting and maintaining breastfeeding, pumping and storing milk and how to know your baby is getting enough breastmilk. Parents who have taken the childbirth education series are welcome to take the class if they want to explore the topic more thoroughly or want a refresher. Moms are welcome to bring their partners or come alone, nursing babies are welcome.
This class covers one of the most feared aspects of having a baby – the pain associated with labor and delivery. We will discuss what to expect during all stages of labor and how to cope with the pain whether you are having a natural childbirth or plan to use pain interventions. You will learn breathing strategies, birth ball and stretching exercises and how to prepare your body for labor and delivery. We will also learn relaxation strategies to help cope with the pain and anxiety that women often fear as labor approaches.
This class covers all the essentials parents need to know about Shaken Baby Syndrome. It covers how and why SBS happens and how to prevent it. It includes important strategies to deal with excessive crying and how to protect babies from SBS. This critical topic is covered in all offered courses that discuss newborn care and safety.
