This course goes over the essentials of caring for a newborn baby. The class is intended for both parents or any caregivers of an infant to learn essential information. Important topics like what to expect after delivery and in the first few weeks are covered, breastfeeding and feeding basics, diapering basics, infant health and safety and much more.

This class covers all the essentials parents need to know about Shaken Baby Syndrome. It covers how and why SBS happens and how to prevent it. It includes important strategies to deal with excessive crying and how to protect babies from SBS. This critical topic is covered in all offered courses that discuss newborn care and safety. This three-hour course will focus on the basics of breastfeeding and caring for your newborn. It will focus on what to expect the first month from your newborn and as you get started breastfeeding. It is intended for first-time parents or as a refresher course. The class will include the Golden Hour, newborn procedures, initiating and maintaining breastfeeding and basic care aspects including hunger cues, sleep, soothing a crying baby, feeding, diapering and infant health and safety. This course is an excellent opportunity for the parents needing an overview of what to expect and to help determine if additional courses are needed.
