San Juan Regional Medical Center Announces 2026/2027 Board of Directors

San Juan Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce the 2026/2027 Board of Directors, approved by our corporation members at their quarterly meeting.
Anna Buffington, a longtime board member and retired hospital employee who represents Women’s Cancer Support Groups, is now serving as board chair. Sara Kaynor, who represents New Covenant United Methodist Church, now moves to the position of Immediate Past Chair. That position was previously held by Shaña Reeves, who is leaving the board after completing five years of exemplary service. Dr. James Boyd, general and bariatric surgeon at San Juan Health Partners General Surgery and San Juan Regional Medical Center’s Metabolic and Bariatric Institute, is serving as Chief of Staff following two years as Vice Chief of Staff. He replaces hospitalist Dr. David Devitre who served on the board as Vice Chief of Staff in 2023 and Chief of Staff in 2024 and 2025. Dr. Erin Philpott, hospitalist and Internal Medicine Residency Program Director, is now serving in the Vice Chief of Staff position.
One new member was elected to the board. We’re pleased to welcome Kristine Carlson-Werito as a new board member, representing Totah Behavioral Health. Kristine is a licensed clinical social worker who serves as the Regional Behavioral Health Clinical Manager for Presbyterian Medical Services. She oversees the clinical aspects of all of PMS’ Behavioral Health Programs in the Northwest System, including Children’s Services, HeadStart, and The Farmington Community Health Center. Kristine has focused her career on building stronger communities and assisting those in need. She replaces board member Debbie Joslin, who left the board after two years of service to relocate out of the area.

San Juan Regional Medical Center’s corporate structure is unique. The corporation is composed of community members representing non-profit organizations throughout San Juan County. These members elect the Board of Directors and serve as the voice of the community, providing guidance and leadership to the hospital.
