Portrait of Felicia McNeal, BEE Award Winner

Felicia McNeal

Felicia McNeal, aka Fish, is a critical care tech in the ICU who is being recognized as a BEE award winner for providing care and compassion daily to patients and their families during times of high anxiety and uncertainty. “There is not just one story of how Fish has helped patients,” said Dr. David Devitre in his nomination. “During difficult situations, Fish is there to provide equipment, call for backup or resources and console families. Fish is a valuable resource to the ICU, and her dedication to patients and staff is a big reason many lives are saved.”

Portrait of Warren Begay, BEE Award Winner

Warren Begay

Warren Begay is an EMT/tech in the Emergency Department and new BEE award winner. He was nominated by a patient’s mother when her child was rushed to the hospital after swallowing a quarter. Warren was the first caregiver to interact with the family. He immediately made the child feel comfortable and calm, telling her the wheelchair she needed to sit in was a princess chair and making a game out of it. “When she no longer got to sit in the wheelchair she was disappointed because she was no longer going to be pushed around like a princess,” the patient’s mother said in the nomination. “He made the whole process smooth. What could have been a miserable experience was one of the best experiences we could have had.”

Portrait of Kathy Coleman, BEE Award Winner

Kathy Coleman

Kathy Coleman is the patient educator on our Childbirth Unit – but her coworkers say she is so much more than that. She not only schedules and teaches a wide variety of educational classes for patients and their families but also makes a point to follow all her students through their pregnancy and delivery. She is an especially helpful resource for pregnant teens, going out of her way to support them and their families, providing education and resource information and making sure they don’t feel alone. “The BEST thing about hearing Kathy speak to patients and families is how she is so good at telling the truth in love,” said Childbirth Center nurse Bonnie Greene, who nominated Kathy. “She has a way of using her compassion mixed with her 'teacher voice' to make hard conversations go smoothly.” In addition, Kathy is a valued member of the Childbirth Unit who encourages others, lifting her coworkers’ spirits through the many ways she shows she cares.

Portrait of Evette Craine, BEE Award Winner

Evette Craine

Evette Craine is a critical care tech in the Intensive Care Unit who exemplifies the role of a caregiver in every sense of a word. Her coworkers agree that she is an irreplaceable part of the ICU team – in fact, she was nominated by four different coworkers for the BEE award. She is a vigilant patient advocate and team player who anticipates needs, creates efficient workflows, and strives to improve care delivery to help the entire department succeed. “Evette Craine does not just perform her role—she elevates it. She brings compassion, intelligence, and commitment to every patient interaction and team collaboration,” said ICU Manager Adrian Cordova in his nomination. “Evette's kindness makes such a lasting impact on everyone around her. She brings happiness and comfort to patients in some of the most fragile moments of their lives,” added ICU nurse Alissa Candelaria.
