This class is intended for teens ages 14-17 years old and will be offered separately for male and female students to encourage open dialogue and promote an environment where questions are freely asked without embarrassment or concerns regarding the opposite sex. Topics covered will include basic anatomy, puberty, how pregnancy happens and is prevented through various contraception options, sexually transmitted infections/diseases and the importance of fostering healthy relationships, resisting sexual pressure and protecting dreams and goals for the future through safe sex practices and abstinence. All information presented will be of a factual nature without bias and from a not “if” but “when” perspective regarding becoming sexually active. Each person taking this class needs to register individually. For questions or additional information email the instructor, Kathy Coleman at kcoleman@sjrmc.net.
