At San Juan Regional Medical Center EVERYONE is a caregiver. We all have a passion, a purpose, a commitment for being in healthcare. We invite you to meet some of our caregivers and learn why they love being a part of San Juan Regional Medical Center.
Caleb Blair, RN
Emergency Department
“San Juan Regional is the best job I have ever had. I have had a lot of jobs in my life, and this is without a doubt the best job I have ever had. I have had situations where I have saved lives, literally saved a human life. And I have walked out of this hospital after a grueling long shift and cried. But it was tears of satisfaction and fulfillment.”

Margaret Dubick, RN
Outpatient Nursing
“I love going to work every morning. Not just because of the family in the clinic that I work with, we have patients that have come for years and they become part of the family. Also we have people that we've seen for 20 years that you know them, you know what's going on in their lives. So not only do I have a work family outpatient is also where our patients become our family.”

Nala John, MLT
Laboratory
“There are a lot of satisfying things about working at San Juan Regional. I think the thing I really appreciate is the community… being a community-based hospital. I've had family come here as inpatients. I've been to the ER, I've had my kids here, so it's nice knowing and being a part of the community.”

Dr. Damon Kalcich, General Surgeon
San Juan Health Partners General Surgery
“Everyone who has come here as a physician is here because they chose to be. We want to be in this community. We have a great deal of diversity here and we are able to take care of a lot of different kinds of people. That is very satisfying to us. As a General Surgeon, I get to work in the hospital, but I also get to work in the office setting. It’s a great way to be a jack of all trades and take care of a lot of different kinds of people.
Personally, this is a great area to live. If you like the outdoors at all this is fantastic. I’m involved in a lot of the youth sports- I coach youth basketball, football and baseball. My children are involved in a lot of sports so we spend a lot of time in the bleachers. It’s just great because you’re involved in your community. You get a sense of the people and it makes you feel sort of part of the family. There’s a connection there. That’s really the satisfying part of what we do is taking care of people we have some feeling and some connection with.”

Monica Nagahiro, RN
Manager, San Juan Health Partners Urgent Care/San Juan Regional Wound Treatment Center
“I think every employee here gives 110%. We make a difference every day, every time you talk to the patient, every time you talk to a family member, you are making a difference. And those small words can make huge differences in our community.”

Chris Opperman, Medical Assistant
San Juan Health Partners Pediatrics
“The impact is incredible. I get to be part of that impact and I get to be part of that change and that influence on that person’s life. Multiply that by 40 kids a day. That is why I do what I do, I get to be part of a small impact that changes somebody’s future hopefully.”

Dr. Sugar Singleton, Family Medicine Physician
San Juan Health Partners Urgent Care
“I was born here and other than leaving to go to the University of New Mexico to get my education, I’ve lived here my entire life. I feel overjoyed to be able to come back and practice medicine here because these are not just patients to me. These are my friends, this is my family, these are my roots and the people that I grew up with and I feel like it is really cool and special to be able to be a doctor and practice medicine and give back to this town that raised me.”
