San Juan Regional Cancer Center Unveils New Equipment, Invites Public to Open House

San Juan Regional Cancer Center Radiation Therapists Britney Peterson and Jessica Meredith demonstrate how the Body Pro-Lok One™ SBRT Immobilization System works as members of SJRMC’s Auxiliary Board look on
San Juan Regional Cancer Center wants the community to know about the breadth of services, support and technology we have available to patients across the Four Corners. We are hosting an open house on Wednesday, October 8 at 4:30 p.m. at our center, located at 731 West Animas in Farmington. We invite you to join us to:
- Meet our radiation oncologist Dr. Brian Fuller and our caregiver team
- Tour our beautiful center
- Learn about our advanced treatments and technology
San Juan Regional Cancer Center recently received a Body Pro-Lok One™ SBRT Immobilization System with two Alta™ Multipurpose devices thanks to generous funding by our Auxiliary. The system provides a comprehensive, top-of-the-line solution to enable advanced treatment for patients undergoing stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) with customizable patient positioning and respiratory restriction for a seamless clinical setup. SBRT requires complex and reproducible patient setups to achieve immobilization and abdominal compression, which is vital in targeting lung and abdominal cancers and other localized tumors.
“Having this device has been a total game changer,” said Chief Radiation Therapist Jessica Meredith. “When patients are more stabilized, we can really pinpoint the therapy to treat all of the affected tissue and less of the healthy, surrounding tissue.”
This system provides our team with optimal patient positioning capabilities without sacrificing the precision required during treatment by forming exactly to each patient. This results in an improved patient experience.
“We want to make people feel as comfortable as possible, which is a great comfort when they are going through cancer treatment,” said Radiation Therapist Britney Peterson.
Benefits of the Body Pro-Lok One™ SBRT Immobilization System include:
- Enhanced patient stabilization
- Fewer, faster treatments
- More precise accuracy
“We have advanced, top-of-the-line equipment here at San Juan Regional Cancer Center that you won’t find anywhere else in the Four Corners region,” Cancer Center Director Scott Slous said. “That’s thanks in part to our Auxiliary. We are grateful to them for purchasing this system to ensure that patients who need it can get their treatment safely and efficiently.”
To learn more about radiation therapy and how it works, listen to Dr. Fuller’s podcast on our website https://www.sanjuanregional.com/ourservices/cancer. We also have additional information on our treatment services and advanced technology. We look forward to sharing more information at our upcoming open house, Wednesday, October 8.
