Friday, November 12, 2021 San Juan Regional Medical Center Laboratory Receives Full Accreditation

San Juan Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that our main laboratory has received full accreditation by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), our trusted partner in laboratory accreditation. This accreditation confirms that we are a high performing laboratory committed to delivering high quality results to our patients.

The peer-based accreditation process is designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients, providing reassurance that our lab is in full compliance with all regulations. CAP’s on-site inspection of the laboratory includes an examination across the entire spectrum of laboratory disciplines and testing procedures with customized checklists to ensure the highest quality of laboratory results and accurate patient diagnoses.

“The CAP accreditation means that we are running a quality laboratory with accurate results, which points directly to patient care and safety,” said Jeff Bourgeois, President and CEO of San Juan Regional Medical Center. “Furthermore, this accreditation shows that we are committed to fostering an environment of continuous improvement.”

Patients who utilize CAP accredited laboratories can feel confident that their test results are accurate, which in turn helps providers make a correct diagnosis and determine the best course of treatment. In addition, patients and providers can be assured that San Juan Regional Medical Center’s laboratory is on the front lines of laboratory medicine and technology.
