This class covers one of the most feared aspects of having a baby – the pain associated with labor and delivery. We will discuss what to expect during all stages of labor and how to cope with the pain whether you are having a natural childbirth or plan to use pain interventions. You will learn breathing strategies, birth ball and stretching exercises and how to prepare your body for labor and delivery. We will also learn relaxation strategies to help cope with the pain and anxiety that women often fear as labor approaches. This class requires a partner and is intended for mom to take with her labor partner so they can learn the strategies together. Moms should dress comfortably and be ready to do various exercises. This class can be taken as a stand alone or in conjunction with any of our other childbirth education classes. Please do NOT sign up for this class within 3 weeks of your due date or if you have complications that prevent you from being able to participate. Consult with your provider if you are in doubt about whether you should participate or not.
