This is a single 3.5-hour course for parents having multiples that is intended to give a solid understanding of the basic biology behind having multiples, what to expect during the pregnancy and how to cope with two newborns (or more) at the same time.  Parents having a pregnancy that involves multiples face different complications and issues than a single baby pregnancy.  We will discuss the complications that can be associated with having twins or more and how to stay healthy, preparing for delivery, including the possibility of a c-section and breastfeeding multiple babies.  We will also discuss what to expect and how to cope if your babies stay in our NICU unit, Newborn Intensive Care Unit, before going home. Finally, we will cover newborn care and how to handle two babies needs at the same time.  The class can be taken at any time during the pregnancy, earlier is better, and both parents are encouraged to attend.  This class can be taken by appointment, email Kathy Coleman at kcoleman@sjrmc.net.
