This class invites first time moms and their families to learn the basics of a healthy pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum experience. There are six classes in this series, each held in the evening from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm in the Personal Reverence Classroom at the Center for Workforce Excellence, 800 West Maple, Farmington, NM. Topics covered include comfort measures, breathing, relaxation, the stages and phases of labor, support person skills, medical interventions in labor and postpartum care. Emphasis is placed on having a healthy pregnancy, understanding the physical and emotional challenges of labor and delivery and getting to know other pregnant women and families. Please register one person per family. Labor support persons are highly encouraged to attend. If registration is full when you wish to take this class, please contact the childbirth educator at 609-2134. The last two classes in the series are Baby Care 101 and Basic Breastfeeding, and include a tour. These are held at the Childbirth Center Classroom at San Juan Regional. Please do not register for these classes in addition to the Childbirth Preparation Series.
