making a difference: covid-19 frontline caregivers

San Juan Regional Medical Center has had the privilege of discharging more than 1,700 COVID-19 patients to home or alternate care as of July 2021. While the pandemic has certainly been challenging, we’re hearing so many inspiring stories that help to give us hope.

We recently received an emotional call from a patient who had been hospitalized with COVID-19. Here are some of the things this patient shared with us:

  • Everyone who came into her room was so happy and refreshing
  • Everyone asked her if she needed anything every time they were in her room. No one ever left without asking.
  • The team worked so well together. The teamwork was evident.
  • She was supposed to be transferred off the COVID floor but she was so glad she wasn’t because she would not have wanted to be anywhere else.
  • “Your staff members are real jewels. There’s not a bad apple amongst them. It was the best care I ever received.”

Thank you, San Juan Regional Medical Center caregivers, for your dedicated service to our patients. You make a difference in so many lives and in the health of our community.
