Connecting patients to their loved ones

The pandemic has brought many challenges. One of the hardest things for patients is not being allowed to visit with their family and friends while they’re in the hospital. Our staff has gone above and beyond to do everything in their power to connect loved ones. Here are a couple of examples.

A patient’s daughter recently contacted the Information Desk. She had spoken to her mother, but she was incoherent. The daughter couldn’t get ahold of any of her mom’s caregivers to see what was going on and she was hoping someone could check on her mom for her. Yvonne Vigil contacted Traci Casey in Volunteer Services for help. Traci checked on the patient and called the daughter back to let her know.

“Traci went out of her way to ease the worried mind of the daughter,” Yvonne said. “It helped the patient’s family as they could not be with her during this time.”

In a separate case, PRT nurse Jennifer Sanisya took the time to help a patient FaceTime with their spouse.

“They were so appreciative for Jennifer going above and beyond to help them,” Vickie Bessey said.

Thank you to all our caregivers who have been demonstrating Sacred Trust, doing the right thing for the patient. You not only administer to their healthcare needs, but you also personalize care by asking what matters to them and connecting them with their loved ones in so many creative ways.
