San Juan Health Partners Internal Medicine and Specialty Services Welcomes Endocrinologist
San Juan Health Partners Internal Medicine and Specialty Services is now offering Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes services. Our Endocrinologist, Dr. Kathleen Colleran, is now seeing patients at the clinic, located at 407 South Schwartz Avenue, Suite 201 in Farmington.
Dr. Colleran is the only Endocrinologist providing these specialized services in our area. She has over 20 years of experience as an Endocrinologist in New Mexico, most recently at the Center for Endocrine Health in Santa Fe. She is a graduate of the University Of Wisconsin School Of Medicine and trained in Internal Medicine at the University of New Mexico. Following her internship and residency she went on to complete a Fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism, as well as a Research Fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism, also at UNM. She then joined the faculty at UNM and received full tenure. She was on faculty for 18 years.
Dr. Colleran’s practice focuses on Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes. She specializes in diagnosing and treating problems of the endocrine system in adults. The most common conditions she sees are diabetes and thyroid problems. Her goal is to improve the overall health and well-being of her patients by working together as a team to control their disease, focusing on lifestyle changes when appropriate as well as medication management.
“There is certainly a large diabetes population in our community, some of whom suffer the consequences of diabetes, such as heart failure, kidney failure, blindness, or amputations. My goal is to prevent those things from happening by controlling the diabetes with the patient,” Dr. Colleran said.
Patients who think they may benefit from Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes services should talk to their primary care provider for a referral.
