SJRMC Calls on Community for Continued Support during COVID-19
San Juan Regional Medical Center is grateful for the outpouring of support from the community as we continue to care for the Four Corners region during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now is not the time to let up. We continue to need cloth mask donations and surgical cap donations. These items are important tools that can help stop the spread of the virus.
To date, we have received more than 4,200 cloth mask donations and 460 scrub cap donations from individuals and groups. We ask our community to continue making these items. They protect our healthcare workers and they protect you. Donations are welcome at the main entrance of the hospital, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Since there is no vaccine to prevent COVID-19, the best thing we can do to prevent illness is avoid being exposed to the virus. Not everyone who has the virus appears sick. We now know that pre-symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals can transmit the virus. That’s why it’s so important to wear a cloth mask while in public.
Surgical caps protect our caregivers as part of their personal protective equipment worn to make sure they do not take the virus home after caring for patients. We are requesting that caps be made of 100% cotton or cotton blend. Again, donations can be dropped off to the main entrance of the hospital Monday through Friday between 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and are greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your continued support of your community owned and operated hospital and our caregivers as we work to protect our community and take care of you and your loved ones. We are flattening the curve but we can’t stop now. Continue social distancing, wearing your masks in public, and practicing good hand hygiene. Together we can make a difference.
