Monday, April 3, 2023 New Childbirth Class at San Juan Regional Medical Center Aimed at Grandparents

San Juan Regional Medical Center’s Childbirth Center is once again adding to its comprehensive lineup of classes for expecting and new parents. This time, we have one for the grandparents.

Grandparenting 101 is a single class meant for grandparents of all ages and stages to take and see what has changed since they raised their children. Topics will include newborn care refreshers, car seat updates, safe sleep practices, supporting breastfeeding, ways to offer support to your children and lots more. It is also an ideal opportunity to ask questions.

This class will be offered:

  • Tuesday, April 25, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, April 27, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

We are also offering a Childbirth Education Crash Course starting this month. This 3 ½ hour course is an accelerated version of the childbirth education series course, condensing four weeks of classes into one session for parents who cannot make the full monthlong time commitment. This class is offered monthly and covers topics at a fast pace.

“It is an excellent refresher course for parents who already have a child or for new parents that are unable to attend the four-week session,” said Kathy Coleman, Childbirth Educator. “It covers everything from what to expect during the third trimester of pregnancy, labor and delivery, postpartum concerns, to breastfeeding and newborn care.”

This class will be offered:

  • Saturday, April 15 from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, April 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
