Financial Arrangements

San Juan Regional Medical Center is here to help you understand your hospital bill and inform you of your payment options.

Insurance
If you have insurance—including Medicare or Medicaid—we will file a claim on your behalf. We’ll send you a statement showing that we have filed the claim. If your insurance company is one of those that we don’t have a contract with, we will allow them 60 days to pay before we bill you directly.

Accepted Insurances

Indian Health Service (IHS)
If you’re Native American and your payer is IHS you may have IHS pay all or part of your SJRMC bill. However, you must notify your IHS service unit the care received at our hospital. For questions regarding chapter status and registration, and to report medical care received at SJRMC, please call 505.368.6070.

Self-Pay Customer
If you’re a self-pay customer, SJRMC has programs designed to help you manage the payment of your hospital bill. For more information about these programs, please call the number listed on your billing statement.

Cash Discount

A 15 percent discount is available to self-pay customers who received hospital services after January 1, 2007, and made proper arrangements.

Community Service Fund
This fund may reduce your hospital bill or even provide for forgiveness of the entire amount of the bill. You must apply for the fund and meet the income guidelines (your assets may also be considered), and you don’t have to be a resident of San Juan County.

San Juan County Indigent Fund
Lower-income residents of San Juan County who receive care at SJRMC may apply for these special funds. The funds are available for qualifying residents only. Contact the SJRMC Indigent Fund Coordinator at 505.609.2864.

Medical Hardships
Those who face a catastrophic medical situation and don’t qualify for other assistance programs may have their hospital bills reduced under this program. A catastrophic medical situation exists when the customer has one or more medical care bills that exceed 30 percent of the household’s annual income.

If you want to arrange for payments of any balance due after using the available discounts, the hospital offers the following:

No interest, up to 24 months to pay.

Long Term Financing:
We can arrange a finance agreement with a finance company to provide up to 48 months to pay.
