2008 Hospital Board Announced

FARMINGTON, NM (Feb 14, 2008) San Juan Regional Medical Center announces their 2008 Board of Directors. Dwayne Gibbs, M.D., who will serve as the Vice Chief-of-Staff, and Joseph Rasor and Sandy Williams, who will serve as members, are new to the board. Sara Kaynor, who served on the board last year as 2nd Vice Chair succeeds Terry Hayes as the new Board Chair. The 2008/2009 Board was installed at the SJRMC Corporation meeting on January 23.

Sara Kaynor, who has served on the board for five years, is the Executive Director of Echo, Inc., an organization that includes the Echo Food Bank, Aztec Pre-school and Echo's affordable housing program. In March 2007, she was honored by the Farmington Rotary Club as a Paul Harris Fellow in recognition of her many contributions to the health and welfare of the Four Corners. She also served on the SJRMC Board from 1995 to 2000, and was Board Chair in 2000. She is an avid pilot, and she has "almost built" a complete airplane which is about 85% completed.
According to Ms. Kaynor, "San Juan Regional Medical Center and all of the physicians who practice here are among the greatest assets this community has. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to work with both groups as we all work to maintain the best healthcare system in the country. There are many challenges on the horizon; however, knowing the skill and dedication of the individuals involved throughout all the facets of health care in San Juan County, I am optimistic that our health systems will continue to thrive."
New member Joseph Rasor, who holds a M.A. in Education from Northern Arizona University, is the Assistant Superintendent for Bloomfield Schools. Prior to joining Bloomfield Schools in July 2006, he was a principal in Kirtland for four years. He has served for 37 years in all levels of education, most of those years on or near the Navajo Reservation. As a long term resident of Bloomfield, he is interested in the development and progress of San Juan County, an interest which inspired him to join the SJRMC board.
Dwayne L. Gibbs, M.D. of San Juan Surgical Associates received his medical degree from the UNM School of Medicine. He is a board certified general surgeon and also serves as Chairman of the Trauma Committee at San Juan Regional Medical Center. He is a member of FACS and characterizes himself as a "local boy."
Sandy Williams is President of Citizens Trust and Investment Corporation, a sister company of Citizens Bank. She is active in numerous organizations including the Anasazi Foundation Board, the Farmington Chamber of Commerce Redcoats, and is a past president of the San Juan Rotary Club. She's been a resident of San Juan County since 1981. She and her husband Ron Williams live in Flora Vista, and they have three children, four grandchildren and one great grandson.
The elected Board members serve for a term of three years and may serve up to two consecutive terms. The Chief-of-Staff and Vice Chief-of-Staff serve one year terms, and the Auxiliary Representative, an appointed position, serves a two year term.
