Steve Altmiller Announces Resignation
Steve Altmiller, San Juan Regional Medical Center CEO, has announced his resignation. Steve has served as President and CEO for the past ten years, and under his leadership the hospital has seen remarkable growth and expansion, both in facilities and services. "This is a fantastic organization," he said in the announcement of his resignation. "You (the staff and management of SJRMC) all helped me to develop my skills to take on my next challenge. I have been privileged and pleased to work with all of you."
Steve has accepted the position of President of Northern Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. Northern Mississippi Medical Center is the flagship hospital of its system with 650 beds, 4,000 employees and serves 22 counties.
Sara Kaynor, Chair of the San Juan Regional Medical Center Board of Directors, commented, "We will miss Steve a great deal, but we know that this is the next step in his career. The hospital is in a strong position and doing well. If there is a good time for him to leave, this is it. The board has long term goals and objectives in place to fulfill our Mission and Vision and we will continue to work on them as planned. We also have the strongest senior management team that we have ever had in place."
Steve's last day will be July 24, 2009. John Buffington, the hospital's Chief Operating Officer will serve as interim CEO.
