Swine Flu
The H1N1 virus, or swine flu, has gotten a lot of press lately. And it is important that you know something about it. The symptoms of H1N1 are a fever of 100 degrees or higher with a cough and/or a sore throat. If you have these symptoms, you should contact your doctor or go to an urgent care center. Be aware: not all flu is swine flu.
The most important thing you need to know is how to prevent swine flu—or any cold or flu for that matter. Wash your hands often using soap and water or an alcohol based hand cleanser, especially after sneezing or coughing. And if you sneeze or cough, cover your mouth or nose with a tissue and then throw the tissue away.
If you get swine flu, or any other flu, you should drink plenty of fluids and rest and stay home so you don’t infect others. And, if you don’t have symptoms, there is absolutely no need to be tested. Follow these guidelines and we’ll all be healthier.
