Connelly House

Welcome to
Connelly Hospitality House
A Place of Hope and Healing...

A home where you can cook, do your laundry, forge friendships with other families facing cancer... even barbecue outside when you feel like it. There's an arts and crafts room, a fireplace, a well-stocked library, and a little garden to putter around in. These are our community's quiet messages of compassion and concern for you and others facing health crises throughout the Four Corners.

Cancer patients and their families or other caregivers who live more than 50 miles from Farmington, New Mexico are our top priority guests. When we are not fully occupied, families of those hospitalized with traumatic injuries or medical emergencies who meet the distance requirement are also welcomed. We welcome guests of both genders and all races, creeds, ethnic background or sexual orientation. We do not deny accommodations to those unable to pay the nominal nightly fee. However we hope all residents will contribute as they are able in order to ensure Connelly Hospitality House will remain open and well maintained for all those who will need it in the future.

We accept reservations for families who meet the criteria stated above. Please request that your physician refer you to the San Juan Regional Medical Center's Social Services Department. Staff there will help you complete the referral form required for registration at the hospitality house.

Connelly Hospitality House is located at 710 South Lake Street in Farmington, New Mexico, directly south (across Pinon Street) from the hospital at San Juan Regional Medical Center. The house is equipped to serve eight families. A parking area with full hook-ups for recreational vehicles is just a few steps from the front door of the hospitality house.

Funding for Connelly Hospitality House comes from donations, guest fees, and special fund-raising events. It is sponsered by the San Juan Medical Foundation, a not-for-profit volunteer organization that conducted the funding campaign for the home's construction. The Foundation continues its work on behalf of the hospitality house in order to establish a permanent fund to help underwrite the ongoing costs of operating the facility.

The inspiration that built Connelly Hospitality House was that of Jerry and Bonnie Connelly - local residents who together fought Jerry's battle with cancer. After their stay at a patient lodging facility in Houston, they returned to Farmington determined to establish a hospitality home that would serve families in the Four Corners area. They established the Hospitality House fund here in 1991. Bonnie and hundreds of other donors and volunteers led by the San Juan Medical Foundation worked tirelessly until the Connelly family's dream was fulfilled.

Designed by architect Charlie Berger and situated on land donated by San Juan Regional Medical Center, Connelly Hospitality House opened on Valentine's Day of the year 2000; a gift of love from the Four Corners community to the Four Corners community.
